Since Picnik is down...

Hey All,

If any of you's are weeping from the shut-down of the photo editing site on the 19th April 2012, Picnik, then have no fear, Pixlr is here!
I recently (by recently, I mean today) found this photo editing site and it's great as it offers various wonderful effects and with fast loading features and, a simple easy 'save' option.

If you click on the "open photo editer" option, it takes you to site that resembles the Adobe Photoshop options regarding photo editing. It's basically like photoshop but absolutely FREE and the saving option is easier.

The "retro vintage effects" is actually really cool! I wouldn't recommend this as the one with the best effects and editing options BUT the layout of this page is really amazing! Just click here it to see what it's like. (Really really cool)

Now, this sneaky little button down there. This is what I use. It's super easy to navigate between the different options and there are so many to choose from! Tip: when choosing an effect, for example the "subtle" option, after you click it, it will take you straight to choosing different effects within that tab. Now, after you choose one (e.g. Janine), your photo will be automatically edited for you to preview BUT if you want to go back to the menu with 'subtle' and etc, then you have to either click the cancel button (if you do not want the feature) or the apply button (if you wish to keep that effect). It also offers a zoom option if you would like to edit features carefully or even a 'fullscreen' button for you to edit your pictures in peace without disturbances!

Hope you guys enjoy this photo editing site and edit away!

Capture the moment

Fujifilm's collection of instant cameras is vast, accustomed for all different types of photographers. So how do you know which one is right for you? The cheapest option might not be necessarily what you need. It's better off to pay a couple extra bucks for some better features that you'll find handy. They don't give the best detailed photos but who cares, it's all about the novelty.

In order of cheapest to most expensive, here they are:

Instax Mini 7S
Colour: White, white/blue, white/pink, chocolate
Pro: Cheapest option!
Con: Manual settings (choice of indoor, cloudy, sunny, and very sunny)
Comment: Great for anyone who just wants this camera for the cute little instax prints you get from it.

Instax Mini 25
Colour: White, Hello Kitty, white with pink, orange or blue sides
Pro: Self-shoot mirror and aesthetically pleasing (it's super cute!)
Con: No timer
Comment: This one's made for the typical teenage girl, comes with a mirror at the front for easy luvo accessibility. Full auto features so you don't need to worry about what the weather is and adjusting the dial that you would on the mini 7s. Comes with a macro add on lens.

Instax Mini 50S
Colour: Black
Pro: Self-timer
Con: A bit pricey
Comment: This one is definitely the sleekest of them all, same features as the mini 25 minus the mirror but the outstanding feature this camera has is a self-timer. This is incredibly handy if you want to be in your group photos as well!

Instax 210
Colour: Black
Pro: For producing bigger images (approx. double the size of the instax mini prints)
Con: Film is more expensive and harder to find than the minis and IT'S HUGE (hence why 'mini' isn't included in the name)
Comment: You'd only want this one if you want to use the instax for photography purposes or if you have too many friends to fit in a small business card sized picture. If you are interested in this one, you should probably see it in real life first to see if you're alright with the size of the camera because when I saw this one I was like "Wow! Talk about massive!"

If you've got any questions about which one is right for you, simply comment and I'll reply as soon as I can :)

Sheraton at the Park

Hey guys,
On Friday night, I was invited to attend a birthday party of a friend at Sheraton at the Park which is a beautiful place in the heart of the city with the most amazing view!
The restaurant is a 5 star buffet situated in Sheraton Hotel and the the food (OMG) was phenomenal... I didn't think it was possible that my stomach could fit so much. Really.

So we arrived there, all the girls dressed in white and red (the dress code was fire and ice) and we literally could not take our eyes from the food. There was seafood section which ranged from sushi, sashimi to oysters, a savoury section with asian styled dishes, a salad section with the best caesar salad, and finally the-to-die for DESSERT SECTION! There was also a chef on-call to cut you a scrumptious slice of lamb steak and delicious pasta.

The restaurant's vibe was formal but very comfortable at the same time and the service was great as the staff were always prepared and ready to clear your plates whenever you needed them to.

I would definitely recommend you go to with your family as a place to relax as well as great place to eat with your girlfriends for a good ol' DNM (deep and meaningful) session !
There was also this beautiful bar and lounge area next to the restaurant where you could simply relax with a live pianist playing his mellow tunes for you.

All in all, Sheraton at the Park is a wonderful place to eat for any occasion such as a birthday party, so I would definitely recommend this restaurant, HOWEVER the dishes are bit pricey.
(So go check it out maybe when you're a high roller)

Love,

Grill'd

Last Saturday night, I had a girls' night and we made a booking for eight people at GRILL'D Darling Harbour (it was the only restaurant that took bookings at late notice). The service was great as they greeted us with great enthusiasm and there was good upbeat music which gave a sense of liveliness. The food at Grill'd is mainly burgers and you can order sides such as salads and chips, complemented by a drink of your choice that is priced reasonably ($15 - 20).

The burger I ordered that night was the Summer Sunset, it contains lean beef, avocado, crispy trim bacon, golden pineapple, salad and relish and herbed mayonaise. It was such a tasty burger and completely worth its price of $12.50. You could taste the rich juicy beef and the freshness of each vegetable with every bite into the burger. I ordered a regular chips as my side (screw my diet!), and combined with the burger it was more than enough to keep me full. We asked for cups of water and the bottles and cups came immediately with regular refills.

All in all, Grill'd is a great place to have a casual dinner in Darling Harbour with prices that are very reasonable considering its location, just a 5 minute walk from the restaurant to the wharf. There are fireworks every Saturday Night around 8:30pm or so. The restaurant is ideal to go to with your friends or families with adventurous parents, but maybe not the boyfriend/girlfriend as it's not ideally romantic and a bit messy to eat!
